Marbled White Butterfly
Marbled White Butterfly. A shot from a fantastic summers evening at a Yorkshire nature reserve. As the sun fell behind the nearby woodland, a whole colony of Marbled Whites landed to roost. Being cold blooded, butterflies become quite dormant once the temperature falls, making them much easier to Photograph. I was also quite lucky as there was hardly a breath of wind. I used the excellent Canon ef 180 mm macro lens here, which allows you to shoot from slightly further away so as not to disturb the insects.
