the basics for beginners - one to one photography course
COVID-19 Update - All workshops are currently up and running and available to book. We are constantly monitoring and implementing all government advice regarding safe working practices so as to ensure the safety of our valued clients, and this is our number one priority. Group sizes on all workshops will never exceed five participants. Hand sanitiser and antiviral wipes are available at all times, face coverings will be worn wherever applicable and social distancing is practiced throughout the duration of the workshops.
As of 17/10/2020, if you book any workshop which subsequently cannot take place due to stricter restrictions being implemented, then you will be offered an alternative date either on the same (rescheduled) workshop or another workshop of the same value. In the event that the rescheduled workshop date or location is inconvenient or unsuitable, or you would just rather cancel, then you will receive a full refund.
This workshop is suitable for private individuals or can be provided for businesses looking to train staff to Photograph their companies products/projects. There are also discounts for group bookings (Upto 5 people).
This is a completely new photography course created due to popular demand, and designed to help you learn in the most convenient way possible for you. As this is a one to one course, you are free to choose a date and time to exactly suit you (Midweek and subject to availability). You don’t have to spend any time or extra cost on travelling, I come to you. I can meet you at your home, office or business premises (West Yorkshire, or within 20 miles) to ensure your learning experience is as fuss free as possible. Extra mileage will be charged at 65p per mile.
We’ll work through a set of course notes, starting at the very beginning with explanations covering how the camera actually works. From there we’ll move on to the various digital file formats, and the differences between them. We’ll look at the mode dial of your camera, with detailed explanations and examples of what each shooting mode is used for. This is a practical photography course, so you will be putting everything into practice as you learn.
Next we’ll de-mystify all those different settings and controls with easy to understand explanations regarding exposure, apertures, ISO and the various focus and exposure modes. Again this will all be reinforced by us using example subjects around the house/garden to practice with.
Finally, if time permits I can go through a basic editing workflow using software such as Photoshop and Lightroom if required.
By the end of the day, you’ll never use the fully auto setting on your camera ever again.
The basics for beginners’ photography course will last around 6-7 hours and can be taken at a time convenient for you. We’ll cover quite a lot through the day, but after we’ve worked our way through the course notes, these are yours to keep. That way the information stays fresh and you can use these as an aid to practicing on a daily basis or as often as you like. I also offer free follow up support and advice via email/phone after the workshop.
The course is suitable for all camera types, but you will get more from the day if you own certain ones. Some compacts can be quite limited in their functionality, therefore bridge, mirrorless and DSLR cameras are the more suitable.
Please see the Gift Vouchers page if you would like to buy this workshop as a gift.
